It turns out I am quite forgetful. This was made obvious through my
travels, as I tended to forget many a thing in various places. Fortunately,
none of them were of great importance, but for my own and others' amusement, I
made an incomplete list. Being forgetful, I of course don't remember
everything that should go on this list. :)
- Cell charger
- I've forgotten this item twice while in Canada, as I typically leave
it plugged into an outlet of one of my friends' places. Fortunately, I
have a backup, since
both my phones use the same charger.
- Pants
- During my trip to Europe in August '99, I forgot to bring a single
pair of pants -- I washed all my jeans the night before, and simply
neglected to pack them. Having only shorts proved to be annoying with
the cold German and Hungarian nights. Fortunately, I was able to borrow
some long underwear from John Gilmore, and then traded a pair of shoes
for a pair of jeans with someone I met during my trip.
I actually repeated this experience during my trip to Tokyo in December '01,
discovering only after arriving that the only pair of pants I brought was the one
I was wearing. I was pretty worried, since being much larger than the average
Japanese person, I didn't expect my odds of finding clothing that fits me to be
very good. To my surprise, the first day we went looking we found 3 perfectly
nice pairs that fit just fine!
- Belt
- Less than 45 minutes before I had to be at a reception for a wedding in
Canada, I realized that the belt I needed to complete my outfit was
still lying on the couch in Berkeley, waiting to be packed.
Fortunately, one of my companion needed to make an emergency shoe buying
trip; I dropped by a suit store during that time, and within 6 minutes
was wearing a new belt out of the store.
